Hey! Hey!
Tomorroz first Monday of May! Yassssssss!!!
The Met Gala!!!
But first, a lil' breakdown for the uninformed:
The Metropolitan Museum of Art, often called “The Met,” is one of the largest and most famous art museums in the world. Located in New York City, The Met holds millions of works of art from ancient to modern times, attracting millions of visitors every year. One of its biggest events is the Met Gala, a glamorous annual fundraiser that kicks off the museum’s Costume Institute exhibition. Known for its bold fashion and celebrity guest list, the Met Gala is often called “fashion’s biggest night,” drawing worldwide attention on social media and in the news. Both The Met and the Met Gala play a huge role in shaping today’s art, fashion, and pop culture.
One might ask: Why are you blogging about this?
'Cause, I just felt like it! In the brilliant words of "Miranda Priestly"- That's all!
On this day, high profile persons of influence and impact from an array of industries and cultures and countries all come together to party! Of course, partying is part of the shindig, and for everybody who doesn't go or plainly can't afford to get in there (me, for instance), cannot deny that seeing the people walking the carpet, donning those works of art, is such an ASMR phenomenon (at least for me).
I got curious about the how the Era of Wintour has been since Anna Wintour got the reins. Which led me to browsing the archives across the internet looking up all the themes since 1995. '95 is when the Era of Wintour began!
Who's Anna Wintour? Oookay!
Anna Wintour is one of the most powerful and famous names in fashion. She is the longtime editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine and serves as the global chief content officer for Condé Nast. At The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Anna Wintour plays a key role as the chairperson of the Met Gala, the museum’s most important and high-profile fundraising event. She helps plan the event, choose the guest list, and set the fashion theme each year. Thanks to her leadership, the Met Gala has become one of the biggest nights in fashion and pop culture, raising millions of dollars for The Met’s Costume Institute. Anna Wintour’s influence shapes not only the Met Gala but also trends in global fashion.

Split into 12 fun sections like Ownership, Cool, Heritage, and Jook (aka a lively space for dance and fun), the exhibit will showcase fabulous garments, art, and photography by creators like Tyler Mitchell and Torkwase Dyson. Big names hosting this year? Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell, and the ever-iconic Anna Wintour, plus honorary chair LeBron James and a star-studded committee (think Janelle Monáe, André 3000, and Usher!). The dress code? “Tailored for You” — totally expecting jaw-dropping, creative spins on menswear and suiting. As always, what happens inside is top secret (no phones allowed!), but guests can look forward to cocktails, a swanky dinner by chef Kwame Onwuachi, performances, and a private peek at the exhibit. Stay tuned — this one’s set to slay! I know my social media feedz gonna be flooding with the going-ons!!!
