In Love With Music!
Music: The Lingua Franca of us.
Music is what feelings sound like!
Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent. |
MUSIC!!! A medicine for heartaches, a celebration of happiness and an expression of all that comes in between; that's music.
I can't go a day without listening to some kind of music, genre doesn't really make a difference to me with only exceptions of Heavy Metal and Trance; which I cannot make head or tail of.
When I was barely out of toddler-hood, back in '93, a song from the movie 'Rudali' got glued to my mind. More often than not, members of my family overheard me humming the tunes of that song. Baju says I used to be in a world of my own, being idle about the house, just constantly humming that track. I do remember the song still, I guess that's my first meeting with Music, ever more to be my lifelong friend.
The whole Bollywood frenzy never caught up with me, I do enjoy Hindi songs; just not songs from movies, that's a rarity! My Grandmother and elder Sister are the two people who greatly influenced my choice of music doing my younger years. Grandmother at one side introducing me to Ghazals, kawali, shaer aur shayari; much like prose and poetry, only the Indian version. And my Sister adding R'n'b, Pop, Country and other such genres into the mix.
As I got older, I built a strong liking for instrumental music. Music & Lyrics combined are beautiful, but just the sound of the instruments is another transcendence. Violins, cellos, pianos, guitars, drums, saxophones and the list goes on; the sounds these genius inventions make is a language unto itself.

I now enjoy the eclectic entity that is Music, anytime anywhere. My mood sets my choice in music, but mostly its other way around: Music sets my mood!
Music also acts as a prominent trigger for memories: good or bad, happy or sad. For instance the track Lady Marmalade of the movie 'Moulin Rouge' brings to my mind a fond memory of a sibling session with my sister at Mumma's (Maternal Grandmother) place. We were attempting to bake a choco-chip sponge cake while music videos played on in the back ground. Every now and then bouncing about, lip-syncing to songs; getting funky with our dance moves.
